Brazil Robusta-Coffee Crop May Fall 5% to 10% on Drought

(Bloomberg) — Output in Espirito Santo may drop after scorching temperatures and a lack of rain “burned” beans on the trees in January, Edimilson Calegari, general manager at Cooabriel, says in a telephone interview.
• Rain has diminished the current risk, and most beans are formed
• A fifth of the crop still developing is susceptible to adverse weather
• “Dramatic” crop woes persist in Bahia’s south with no significant rain for almost two months
• NOTE: Espirito Santo accounts for ~75% of the nation’s robusta output
• NOTE from Jan. 31: In Brazil Heatwave, Coffee is Literally Burning on the Trees
